Three Cities and A Wedding! My Recent Madrid, Cuenca and Valencia Trip

An Exciting Invitation to Cuenca

I recently had to arrange a trip to the city of Cuenca Spain, this is how I made it happen.

I was so excited when I got the news that I was being invited to a wedding by friends of my eldest daughter. The bride to be was brought up in Cuenca and her family and friends still live there, and so she wanted to get married in her home town.

The Travel Dilemma: How Do We Get to Cuenca?

Now here comes the dilemma if were visiting Cuenca there is only two ways to get there that’s flying into Madrid or Valencia. But this is where I become a bit spoilt, and decided, lets go crazy and visit all of these three beautiful cities.

Why Not Visit All Three Cities?

Okay now the idea is in place, how do we fit wedding outfits, beach clothes, and city clothes in our baggage in three large suit cases and when I say large I mean HUGE,  For us three women on the trip and my husbands suitcase which could have been classed as hand luggage, to be fair he could have even took a carrier bag.

Choosing the Best Flights: Madrid or Valencia First?

So let’s look for flights, do we fly into Madrid or Valencia first? Personally I love a good beach so I would have to go with Madrid so that I can finish the holiday with city, beach and harbour in Valencia. But if you prefer the city it might be worth you switching around the order.

Of course Ryanair is the cheapest option and they fly into both cities. I booked the outbound flights first to Madrid but had to wait for the inbound flights to be released. Now this is where it changed slightly the flight back from Valencia was a lot cheaper if we stayed an extra day!!! So now we have an extra night in Valencia, great, but we needed somewhere to stay for the last day.

Booking Accommodation: A Unique Stay in Each City

But what accommodation do we fancy, let’s switch it up a bit and have completely different accommodation in each city. The wedding venue we booked for two nights at The El parador Cuenca, a very old hotel in a beautiful setting it had the wow factor. Next let’s have a search on Booking.com for two nights in Madrid The Riu Plaza came up trumps with a lot to offer but a lot cheaper price having just one room for four adults than having two rooms. Two booked one to go. A nice little find an apartment in Valencia, just across the road to the harbour and the beach.

One Last Surprise: A Special Celebration to End the Trip!

So let’s summarise we have booked a modern hotel in Madrid A very old hotel in Cuenca and a modern/ Spanish style apartment in Valencia. So what else could I book that would be so different and unique to end our amazing journey across our three Spanish cities and celebrate my youngest daughters 25th birthday.

I cannot wait to tell you.

But you’ll have to make sure your subscribed to find out as I’ll be posting all the details on each hotel and how I travelled on the trains between each location very soon.
